ITHACA, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Great news! Ithaca Schools will provide free breakfast and lunch for kids this summer. Any child under 18—yes, even recent high school grads aged 18—can enjoy this program. You don’t have to be a student or live in the district to join in!
All you need to do is sign up by June 12, 2025. Simply fill out a participation form to ensure your child gets their meals. There’s no complicated income paperwork to worry about. Just show up to pick up the food!
Meals will be handed out every Wednesday from June 25 to August 20. Food distribution runs from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the Ithaca Elementary School door. If something comes up and you can’t make it, just call the school office at 608-585-2311 by Monday of that week. They’re available from 9 AM to 3 PM to help you.
Be mindful that if you miss picking up food twice during the summer, the program will stop sending meals for your child. So make sure to keep your pickup times in mind!
Why is this program so important? According to a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture report, nearly 1 in 6 children in the U.S. faces food insecurity. Programs like this one help bridge that gap during the summer when school meals are unavailable.
So, if you’re in the area or know someone who is, spread the word about this fantastic opportunity for free meals!
