Desperate Times: WFP Reports Gaza Warehouse Looted by Crowds Seeking Food

The situation in Gaza is increasingly alarming. Recently, the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) reported that desperate crowds broke into a food supply warehouse in central Gaza. Jonathan Whittall, who leads the UN’s humanitarian efforts in the region, stated that the real problems stem not from organized groups like Hamas but rather from criminal gangs operating near the border. He emphasized that significant aid influxes during ceasefires could mitigate looting and allow for better distribution efforts.
