Odisha is now home to six Vande Bharat Express trains, a major boost for the state’s railway connectivity. These trains link key cities in Odisha to each other and to other parts of India. Residents can now travel more conveniently among major locations, including Khariar Road, Kantabanji, Titilagarh, Kesinga, and Rayagada.
The six newly inaugurated trains include:
- Puri–Rourkela Vande Bharat Express (Train 20835 from Rourkela to Puri and Train 20836 from Puri to Rourkela)
- Bhubaneswar–Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express (Train 20841 from Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam and Train 20842 from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar)
- Brahmapur–Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express (Train 20891 from Tatanagar to Brahmapur and Train 20892 from Brahmapur to Tatanagar)
- Rourkela–Howrah Vande Bharat Express (Train 20871 from Howrah to Rourkela and Train 20872 from Rourkela to Howrah)
- Raipur–Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express (Train 20829 from Durg to Visakhapatnam and Train 20830 from Visakhapatnam to Durg)
- Berhampur–Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express (Train 20891 from Tatanagar to Brahmapur and Train 20892 from Brahmapur to Tatanagar)
This expansion aligns with India’s broader efforts to enhance railway services. According to the Indian Ministry of Railways, Vande Bharat trains are designed to be faster and more efficient, cutting travel time significantly. In fact, these trains can reach speeds of up to 180 km/h, making them one of the fastest options in the country.
In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to flag off a new Vande Bharat train from Katra to Kashmir on June 6. This train will improve access to the Kashmir Valley, especially for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, who often face challenges due to blockages on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. This development is expected to make travel safer and more reliable for thousands each year.
As train services become more modernized, it’s interesting to note that the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express has sparked discussions on social media. Many users express delight at the increased connectivity and the potential economic boost for smaller towns in Odisha. The upgrade signifies not just improved transport but also promises for local businesses and tourism.
