NetEase Games has unveiled Blood Message, its debut AAA single-player action-adventure game, and early impressions are exciting.
The game is being developed by 24 Entertainment, known for the multiplayer title Naraka: Bladepoint. Blood Message marks a shift for the studio, as the reveal trailer teases a game full of potential.
This title uses Unreal Engine 5 and is set in ancient China during the closing days of the Tang Dynasty. Players will embody a “nameless messenger” and his young son as they travel east across Asia to deliver a message that could change the fate of their troubled homeland.
It borrows heavily from iconic western games, especially Uncharted, offering cinematic action, strong storytelling, and stunning visuals that players love.
Zhipeng Hu, Lead Producer at NetEase, expressed ambition for the game: “We are ushering players into a new generation of high adventure with Blood Message. After two decades in gaming, we aim to provide a truly epic experience for players worldwide.”
Interestingly, single-player experiences have seen a resurgence in the gaming world recently. A recent study found that 70% of gamers enjoy solo campaigns, affirming the significance of narrative-driven gameplay. This trend could play in Blood Message’s favor, appealing to those who cherish immersive stories.
The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s definitely on the radar for fans of story-rich adventures. The mix of history and fantasy promises a compelling experience.
