Celebrating Excellence: Purdue Student Farm Wins Prestigious 2025 TEAM Award!

The Purdue Student Farm has earned the prestigious Purdue Agriculture 2025 TEAM Award. This honor celebrates its remarkable teamwork and influence within the university and the wider community.

The farm is more than a place for growing crops. It’s a living laboratory where students, faculty, and staff collaborate on sustainable agriculture. They conduct hands-on research that not only enhances learning but also provides fresh produce to the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and supports a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

In addition to these efforts, when crops are plentiful, the farm donates extra produce to the ACE Food Pantry. This initiative highlights their commitment to ensuring food security and enhancing community well-being.

Bradford Berenyi, a Purdue agricultural researcher, notes, “Collaborative efforts like those at the Purdue Student Farm are vital in today’s world where sustainable practices are increasingly important. They not only grow food but also build community resilience.” This aligns with a 2023 survey showing that 72% of consumers prefer locally sourced foods, emphasizing the importance of initiatives like this one.

Described as a “land-grant gem,” the Purdue Student Farm is a shining example of the university’s focus on research, education, and outreach. The passion and hard work of this diverse team have created a model for grassroots excellence.

The award ceremony will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM in PFEN 241, Dean’s Auditorium.
