Join the Celebration: Tarrant Area Food Bank and Crowley ISD Launch The Eagle Market at H.F. Stevens Middle School!

Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) and Crowley ISD recently opened The Eagle Market at H.F. Stevens Middle School. This new school-based market, part of TAFB’s Ready to Learn® initiative, aims to tackle food insecurity among students.

The Eagle Market provides fresh produce, shelf-stable groceries, and nutritious meals directly to students and their families. This initiative is vital in Tarrant County, where over 120,000 children face food insecurity. By placing food resources in schools, families can access healthy options without stigma.

The collaboration involves TAFB, Crowley ISD, and The Big Good, an organization co-founded by musician Leon Bridges and coach Gary Patterson. This partnership emphasizes a shared goal: to help North Texas children and their families lead healthier lives.

The Ready to Learn® initiative links nutrition and education. It not only provides meals but also aims to improve student well-being and academic performance. Schools like H.F. Stevens are essential touchpoints for this support.

A 2021 report by Feeding America found that schools with food programs see better student engagement and achievement. By combining food access with education, programs like this can profoundly change lives and communities.
