Houston Volleyball faced a tough match against #15 Kansas, losing in straight sets at Fertitta Center. This was a challenging encounter for the Cougars, now 8-10 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 play.
Kansas opened the first set with an impressive 8-0 run, quickly taking control of the match. Houston fought back in the second set, starting strong and leading 5-2 at one point. However, the Jayhawks rallied. Tied at 21-21, Kansas pulled ahead again, winning the set 25-23.
The third set saw Kansas maintain momentum, winning it 25-16 and sealing the match 3-0. Despite the loss, senior Alana Torres-Rivera had a standout performance with 14 digs, marking her ninth match with double-digit digs. Redshirt sophomore Alyssa Gonzales contributed 10 kills, her 19th career match with double-digits.
Houston’s blocking was a highlight, accumulating nine blocks, with Barakat Rahmon leading with four.
