Lindenwood Men’s Hockey Team Delivers Strong Performance on the Road
The Lindenwood men’s hockey team is on a roll! They recently completed a successful road trip, clinching their second win in a row by beating Ferris State 3-2. This victory brings their season record to 5-5-0.
The game kicked off with excitement. Nine minutes into the first period, Lindenwood scored during a power play. Charles Savoie made a brilliant pass to Drew Kuzma, who then set up Louis-Philippe Fontaine. Fontaine found the back of the net, marking his fourth power-play goal this season.
Ferris State quickly responded in the second period. Max Itagaki scored their first goal during a power play, tying things up at 1-1. However, the Lions weren’t discouraged. Seven minutes later, Jacob Fletcher connected with Anselmo Rego, who skillfully maneuvered past the Ferris defense and scored his first NCAA goal.
Just before the end of the second period, Lindenwood struck again. A blocked shot from Tyler Loughman landed at Savoie’s stick. Savoie made no mistake, scoring and giving the Lions a 3-1 lead.
The third period became tense. Although Lindenwood started with a power play, Ferris State’s Riley Wallack scored a short-handed goal, bringing the score to 3-2. Despite facing pressure, the Lions held on, outshooting Ferris State 10-7 in the final period and clinching the victory. Overall, Lindenwood had 33 shots on goal, while Liam Beerman saved 24 shots.
Charles Savoie stood out in the match, accumulating a total of 11 points for the season with 3 goals and 8 assists. Coach Keith Fisher praised the team’s effort, calling it one of their most complete games yet.
Looking ahead, Lindenwood will take a break next weekend before returning home for three consecutive weekends of play. Their next matchup is an exhibition against Grand Canyon University on November 14, with the puck dropping at 7:10 p.m.
As the season progresses, fans are eager to see how the team continues to evolve. With skilled players and determination, the Lions are building momentum.
