FAIRFAX, Va. – Zoë Vidaurre, a graduate student at George Mason University, has been recognized on the Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference. This honor highlights her impressive season, which was her best yet.
In her final year, Vidaurre led the Patriots with 14 points, boasting six goals and two assists. She played all 18 matches, leading the team in minutes with 1,607. Her commitment was crucial in strengthening Mason’s defense. The team allowed only 25 goals this season, a significant drop from 40 the previous year. They also reduced opponent shots from 352 to 225, demonstrating clear improvements in organization and discipline.
Vidaurre wasn’t just a defensive anchor; she also brought firepower to the offense. Early in the season, she scored a decisive goal in the Atlantic 10 opener against George Washington, showing her leadership skills as a team captain. That game-winning goal was one of three she netted this season, tying her for third-most in the conference, showcasing her knack for rising to the occasion.
As the season progressed, she scored in four straight matches and even achieved her first career brace against St. Bonaventure on October 2nd.
Her recognition as a First Team member is a milestone for Mason Women’s Soccer. She’s only the second player in the program’s history to earn this honor since joining the conference in 2013 and the first to receive any all-conference recognition since 2016. Her blend of leadership, scoring ability, and defensive skills has left a lasting mark on the program.
According to a recent survey by the NCAA, only about 1.7% of collegiate athletes receive All-Conference honors, illustrating how rare and prestigious this recognition is. Vidaurre’s achievements reflect not just individual talent but also the dedication of the entire team and coaching staff to elevate the program.
