North Florida Men’s Basketball faced a tough opener, falling to the third-ranked Florida team, 104-64, at the Exatech Arena on Thursday night.
Senior guard Kamrin Oriol led the team, scoring 19 points while shooting 47% from the field. This was his 12th game of his career with at least 10 points. Freshman Trey Cady made an impressive debut, contributing 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals in just 18 minutes. Another freshman, BJ Plummer, also scored in his first college game.
The Ospreys started strong, with Oriol sinking a deep three-pointer to get the first points on the board. Kent Jackson then scored another three, giving North Florida an early 6-4 lead. However, as the game progressed, Florida pulled ahead. By halftime, North Florida found itself down 52-28.
In the first half, Oriol was a standout, scoring 11 points. Overall, 11 players from North Florida saw game time.
Looking ahead, North Florida will face another challenging opponent, the 18th-ranked Tennessee, on November 12 in Knoxville. This matchup promises to be another test for the team.
