Join Us for Food Drive Fridays at KNIA/KRLS – Kicking Off November 14th with Community Spirit!

Food Drive Fridays are back! Starting November 14th, KNIA/KRLS Radio will focus on local food shelves and the urgent need to combat hunger during the holiday season. Each Friday, special editions of the news magazine will be broadcast at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., with an extra airing at 6 p.m. on days without high school basketball or special Christmas music.

The event aims to raise awareness and donations for local food banks, including the Food Bank of Iowa, which serves over 50 counties. Annette Hacker from the Food Bank will discuss the organization in the upcoming program, shedding light on its vital role in our community. To further encourage donations, the KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will visit various community locations throughout the season.

Did you know that food insecurity is a growing problem? According to a recent report, nearly 1 in 8 Iowa households face hunger. This highlights the importance of community efforts like Food Drive Fridays. It’s a chance for everyone to pitch in and help our neighbors in need.

Tune in to KNIA/KRLS for these insightful programs and find out how you can contribute. Your support could make a significant difference in someone’s life this holiday season.
