Mobile Approves Settlement: What the Release of Claims Means for Fired Gulf Coast Employees

The Mobile City Council has settled a dispute with Kevin Levy, the former commander of the Gulf Coast Technology Center, who was fired earlier. This decision comes after Levy’s attorney claimed that false statements were made during a city council investigation.

This investigation focused on a contract with 321z Insights LLC, issues within the Gulf Coast Technology Center’s chain of command, and conflicts between City administration and former police chief Paul Prine, who voiced several grievances.

Levy denied all allegations against him, including accusations of giving false testimony or breaching City policy. An investigation by the Alabama Attorney General’s office found no evidence of illegal activity on Levy’s part.

To avoid a lawsuit, the City opted to negotiate with Levy’s attorney. The Mobile City Council agreed to the settlement unanimously, although council president CJ Small was absent during the vote.

Details about the settlement remain private. Levy’s attorney was not available for comment on Tuesday.
