CLEVELAND — University Hospitals (UH) is celebrating a big achievement. It landed at No. 25 on Forbes’ second-annual America’s Dream Employers ranking. What’s more, UH is the highest-ranked organization in Ohio’s healthcare and social services category.
This year, only 500 employers made the prestigious list. Forbes points out that these employers are making a real difference for their workers. They offer generous pay, exciting roles, and benefits that support mental health and work-life balance.
“Being recognized as one of America’s Dream Employers is an honor for us,” said Cliff A. Megerian, MD, FACS, UH CEO. “Our team of over 33,000 caregivers is dedicated to our community. We value every voice in our organization, which helps us deliver excellent patient care. Creating a sense of belonging is key to attracting and keeping top talent.”
To create this list, Forbes teamed up with Statista. They surveyed 10,000 college students and 140,000 U.S. employees at companies with at least 1,000 workers. Students shared which companies they dreamed of working for, while employees rated their current or previous employers on factors like salary, professional growth, and work conditions.
The analysis took into account more than 266,000 responses, giving each employer a score. The top 500 made the cut.
UH stands out not just for employee perks. It has a strong recognition program, allowing staff and leaders to celebrate those who go above and beyond. As the third-largest healthcare employer in Ohio, UH is also committed to engaging local students early, offering programs that introduce them to various career options in medicine.
Recent trends show a growing emphasis on workplace well-being. A 2023 survey revealed that 65% of workers now prioritize mental health support when choosing an employer. As companies like UH lead the way in providing such benefits, they not only attract talent but also set new standards for what employees want.
