Oregon’s Pregnon and Thieneman Earn Prestigious All-American Honors from Sporting News!

Oregon Ducks Shine with All-America Honors

Eugene, Ore. – The Oregon Ducks are making headlines with standout performances. Offensive lineman Emmanuel Pregnon has been named to The Sporting News All-America First Team, while defensive back Dillon Thieneman secured a spot on the second team.

This is a big achievement for Pregnon. It’s his second first-team honor this week; he also made the Associated Press first team. All four major organizations recognized him, with additional second-team honors from the AFCA and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Pregnon has started all 12 games this season, playing 11 at left guard and one at right guard. His performance has been impressive, ranking second among Big Ten guards with an 83.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. He has allowed zero sacks and only three pressures in 335 pass-blocking opportunities.

Thieneman also has a solid resume, receiving his third All-American nod after selections to the Associated Press and Walter Camp second teams. A key player for the Ducks, he boasts 64 total tackles this season and has recorded two interceptions, four pass breakups, and a sack. His 90.2 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus leads all Big Ten defensive backs. Notably, he clinched a double-overtime victory against then-No. 3 Penn State with an interception.

Both players were recognized as first-team All-Big Ten selections by coaches, the media, and the Associated Press. The Ducks, currently ranked No. 5 with an 11-1 record, are set to face No. 12 seed James Madison (12-1) in the opening round of the College Football Playoff.

This recognition highlights not just individual talent but also the strength of the Ducks’ program. As they prepare for the playoffs, fans and analysts are buzzing about the potential of these standout players. Their contributions could play a crucial role in the Ducks’ playoff journey, showcasing the fruits of hard work and coaching excellence.

In a season where teamwork and strategy are paramount, Pregnon and Thieneman epitomize what it means to perform at a high level. These accolades not only celebrate their achievements but also set the stage for a thrilling postseason ahead.
