Christopher Walken is a throwback when it comes to how he enjoys entertainment. In a recent chat with his Severance co-stars on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, he revealed that he hasn’t watched all the episodes of the Apple TV+ series that he stars in. Instead of streaming, he receives DVDs to catch up because he doesn’t have the right equipment to access the show online.
During the interview, when asked if he watched every episode, Walken replied, “Not all of them. I can’t. I don’t have the equipment, so they’re good enough to send me DVDs.” He even mentioned that he doesn’t have an Apple TV+ subscription.
In Severance, Walken plays Burt Goodman, the retired head of optics and design at Lumon Industries. The show dives into a unique sci-fi premise where office workers have their memories split between their personal and work lives. The much-anticipated second season just debuted, following a surprise promotional event in New York City. Fans were thrilled to see Walken and his fellow cast members, including Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette, pop up at Grand Central Station.
During the same SiriusXM interview, director Ben Stiller compared editing Severance to editing the Real Housewives series. He discussed the challenge of meeting audience expectations while making sure the show is of high quality. Stiller jokingly asked Cohen how long it takes to edit the reality franchise, highlighting the fast-paced nature of television production.
Stiller also praised the Real Housewives series for its editing, humorously sharing how he watches it with his daughter. He joked about catching up on the different locations of the franchise, like Salt Lake City and New York, mentioning the daunting task of starting from the very beginning.
Ahead of the new season, the Severance cast also took a moment to clarify some wild fan theories about the show. Adam Scott, who plays Mark, joked, “This sounds like what Lumon would be doing in a super boring version of Severance.” Patricia Arquette added more seriously, “You are very far off and wrong,” putting some of the fan speculations to rest.
Walken’s old-school approach to media is a fun contrast to today’s streaming culture. His candidness during the interview made it clear that despite being a Hollywood legend, he’s just like many of us, navigating the changing landscape of entertainment.
