Seawolves Dominate Vikings 90-56: Celebrate 4th Straight Victory at University of Alaska Anchorage!

Seawolves Dominate Vikings in a Thrilling Match

In an impressive display of skill, Alaska Anchorage’s men’s basketball team rolled to a decisive 90-56 victory over Western Washington on January 3. Bishop Tosi led the charge with 18 points, while teammates Sylas Williams and Hasaan Herrington contributed double-doubles, showcasing teamwork at its finest.

Williams put up 17 points along with career highs of 12 rebounds and six assists. Herrington also shone bright with 16 points and 10 assists, a milestone for him. Senior Akok Machar added another 13 points to the mix.

The Vikings, despite their efforts, were outclassed. They managed to score only 12 points from Nehemiah Pollard and Dennis Johnson each, but their shooting was dismal at just 33.9%. Meanwhile, the Seawolves shot 56.4% and dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Vikings 41-24.

UAA’s coach, Rusty Osborne, praised his team’s execution and defensive intensity. “Our effort on the boards was terrific,” he remarked. This win marked their fourth consecutive victory, positioning them strongly in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Historically speaking, previous games between these two teams were closely contested, often decided by less than ten points. However, this game broke that pattern right from the start. The Seawolves jumped to a quick 5-0 lead and swiftly extended it to 15-4. A crucial three-pointer from Williams solidified their advantage at 20-8 just nine minutes into the game.

By halftime, UAA was ahead 46-19, a substantial lead they maintained throughout the second half as they grew their advantage to 30 points. The Seawolves finished strong, with Machar hitting 5 of 7 shots in the second half and Jesse Stines contributing 10 points off the bench.

This victory gives Alaska Anchorage its largest margin of victory against Western Washington in their history, a notable achievement that showcases the team’s growth and potential for the season.

As they prepare for their next match against Northwest Nazarene on January 8, it’s clear that the Seawolves are a team to watch this season. Their combination of solid teamwork, skilled play, and strategic execution will keep fans excited and engaged.
