Exciting Development: Tomberlin Joins Thomas University Softball Program with NLI Signing!

After a memorable time with the Alcovy Lady Tigers softball team, senior Olivia Tomberlin has signed on to continue her athletic journey at Thomas University. This exciting milestone was celebrated during a signing ceremony, where Olivia was joined by family, teammates, coaches, and friends.

Olivia expressed her thrill about moving forward in her softball career. “It’s really exciting because I actually get to go to the next level,” she shared. Despite doubts due to injuries that sidelined her junior season, Olivia’s determination shone through as she returned strong in her senior year, earning All-Region honors yet again.

This season was historic for the Lady Tigers, as the team reached the Elite Eight for the first time. For Olivia, the best part about signing with Thomas University is knowing that her playing days are far from over. “It’s not over this summer,” she said, relieved and eager to keep playing.

Reflecting on her journey, Olivia credits her coaches for preparing her both mentally and physically. “They helped me develop a strong mindset for every game,” she added. This mental resilience proved crucial as she navigated challenges on and off the field.

Choosing Thomas University was a blend of both athletic fit and team culture. Olivia was drawn to the positive environment during her visits, noting, “The girls all love it. Everyone wanted to be there.” This sense of camaraderie was important to her and a significant factor in her decision.

In today’s college sports landscape, findings from a recent NCAA survey highlight that nearly 70% of student-athletes prioritize team culture when selecting their schools. This aligns with Olivia’s experience, showing how crucial camaraderie and support are in sports.

As Olivia embarks on this new chapter, her journey reflects hard work, resilience, and a love for the game—all qualities that set her up for success at Thomas University.
