SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Community Environmental Council (CEC) is kicking off its Climate Stewards course this week. This program aims to empower local residents to face environmental issues and take action in their communities.
This course lasts several weeks and focuses on hands-on learning about environmental education and leadership. Participants will explore practical solutions that fit Santa Barbara’s unique needs. They’ll benefit from insights shared by local experts and will complete a capstone project to create a positive impact in their neighborhoods, schools, and businesses.
Kathi King, CEC’s Director of Outreach and Education, highlights the course’s success in developing community leaders. Many past participants have initiated impactful sustainability projects throughout the region.
The new session starts on January 27 at CEC’s Environmental Hub on State Street. It’s open to everyone—teachers, students, business owners, and local leaders—who want to become advocates for environmental change.
