Valley View, a health system based in Glenwood Springs, is launching a free Women’s Health Series to help women navigate aging and health challenges. This series is a chance for local providers to share tips and answer questions on important topics like menopause and heart health.
Led by female healthcare providers, the series consists of three 30-minute webinars, each followed by a Q&A session. Dr. Susan Williams, an internist at Valley View, emphasizes the importance of community engagement. She notes that while doctor appointments can be rushed, this series allows for in-depth discussions and personalized advice.
The first webinar, “Living Well as You Age: Practical Tips for Lifelong Vitality,” will take place this Wednesday at noon. Dr. Williams will cover crucial topics like annual screenings and lifestyle changes that promote healthy aging.
According to recent studies, women over 50 often face significant health concerns, including increased risks of heart disease and osteoporosis. Educational platforms like this series can empower women to take charge of their health. “There’s a lot we can do as we age to maintain and even improve our health,” Dr. Williams says.
The second session on February 18 will be led by Dr. Haley Hoffman, focusing on perimenopause and menopause management. Finally, on February 25, Dr. Sonja Hanson Fauchet will discuss understanding chest pain and heart failure in women, providing vital information about when to seek care.
Webinars like these are becoming increasingly popular as women seek knowledge to make informed health choices. In fact, a recent survey found that 73% of women are eager to learn more about health issues that specifically affect them as they age.
