In February, two entertainment organizations are teaming up for a virtual event called “Breaking In.” This event is designed to help early-career professionals learn how to start their journey in the entertainment industry.
The event will take place on February 25 at 4 p.m. PT via Zoom. It’s free and open to anyone, even those who are not members of the hosting organizations.
Attendees will have the chance to participate in a panel discussion and a Q&A session. Jon Kee from Circle Management + Production will moderate the event. The panel features industry leaders, including:
- Tim McNeal, Senior Vice President of Creative Talent Development and Inclusion at Disney Entertainment Television
- Cliff Decatrel, Development Executive and Producer at Deca-Media
- Janaé Désiré, Director of Development at NBCUniversal’s Universal Content Productions
- Shakira Hedgpeth, TV Literary Agent at Kaplan Stahler Agency
- Kristena Hatcher, CEO and Founder of North Star Focus
- Mimi Vengoechea, Unscripted Casting Director at Go For Casting
Stacy Milner, President and CEO of the Entertainment Industry College Outreach Program (EICOP), expressed enthusiasm for the event. She emphasized that “Breaking In” aims to give the next generation access, opportunity, and inspiration to chase their dreams.
This event marks the first collaboration between the Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS) Foundation and EICOP. Additionally, it is the HRTS Foundation’s inaugural public program.
Melissa Grego, CEO of HRTS, shared her excitement as well. She noted that working with EICOP to support aspiring industry professionals aligns with both organizations’ missions. The HRTS Foundation focuses on helping underrepresented individuals in entertainment, while EICOP aids students from historically Black colleges and universities in pursuing careers in the industry.
This partnership aims to provide valuable resources and insights, helping many aspiring professionals navigate their paths in entertainment.
