However, concerns about funding cuts loom large. Rep. Gwen Moore pointed out significant reductions in programs like the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which could counteract Kennedy’s health goals. Similarly, cuts to National Institutes of Health funding could hinder crucial medical research, as noted by Rep. Bradley Schneider, who cited a Congressional Budget Office report warning that such cuts could stunt the development of life-saving drugs.
Kennedy has proposed creating a new entity called the Administration for a Healthy America (AHA) to streamline health services. Despite his enthusiasm for this project, it still lacks funding after failing to secure support last fall.
