Join Us in the Fight Against Hunger: Upcoming Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive This May – Moultrie Observer

MOULTRIE – Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 9! Colquitt County is joining the “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive, a national initiative aimed at helping families in need.

This event is in collaboration with the National Association of Letter Carriers, United Way of Colquitt County, and the Colquitt County Food Bank. It’s an easy way for everyone to contribute.

Want to participate? Just leave a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox on May 9. Local letter carriers will collect these donations during their regular routes. It’s a simple act that can make a huge difference.

To make it even easier, collection bags will be delivered directly to your mailbox. These bags, provided by the generous Solanki family, will come with information cards to guide you.

Everything collected will benefit families right here in Colquitt County. Local food pantries will directly receive these donations, helping to stock their shelves and support those who need it most.

The demand for food assistance remains high, especially as many families deal with rising food prices. Donations like canned goods, pasta, rice, and cereal are especially valuable.

“Stamp Out Hunger is one of the easiest ways to support our neighbors. A small act of kindness can create a big impact,” said Angela Bowman, program coordinator at United Way.

Additionally, if you’re eager to help beyond just donating food, there are volunteer opportunities available. You can assist with sorting and distributing the donations. For more info on volunteering, reach out to United Way at (229) 985-2627 or email admin@uwccga.org.

As we approach May 9, let’s unite as a community. Together, we can help ensure that no family goes without a meal.
