Deezer, a popular music streaming service, recently reported a dramatic increase in AI-generated music. Each day, they receive nearly 75,000 submissions created by AI. This now makes up about 44% of all songs uploaded daily. However, despite the high volume of uploads, only 1-3% of streams on Deezer come from these AI tracks. The company has taken steps to limit the presence of AI music on its platform, even removing these songs from recommendations.

The rise of AI in music isn’t just a passing trend. Since Deezer implemented its monitoring tool in January 2025, the number of daily AI uploads has skyrocketed from 10,000. The tool aims to set an industry standard by tagging AI-generated songs, making it the first service to do so. In addition, Deezer has stopped storing high-quality versions of these tracks and is even working with other companies to license its detection technology.

Industry experts are weighing in on this shift. Music industry analyst Jessica Green notes, “This could reshape how we think about music creation and ownership. As AI evolves, we may see more artists collaborating with tech instead of just competing against it.”

Historically, AI in music is not new. The first fully AI-composed album was released in 2016. Yet, the current surge signals a turning point. Today’s musicians have to navigate these shifting landscapes where technology and creativity often intersect.

Recent surveys indicate that about 62% of listeners find AI-generated music less appealing than human-created tracks, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in music.
