Brazilian officials anticipate that up to 2 million fans will flock to the iconic beach for the event. This concert is part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour, named after her latest album. Shakira shared in a TV interview that this performance is a dream come true for her. “I’ve always wanted to sing here,” she said, expressing her deep connection to the location.
Shakira’s history in Brazil goes back to the 1990s, when she first gained popularity. Ethnomusicologist Felipe Maia highlights that her Colombian roots resonate with Brazilian culture, fostering a strong bond with her audience. “This concert is a highlight of her relationship with Brazil,” he remarked.
Many fans, like 38-year-old accountant Erica Monteiro, feel Shakira represents the strength of the Latino community. “We face challenges, but we stand strong,” she said, reflecting the pride fans have in her music and message.

Data shows a notable increase in tourism during concert months. For example, in 2024, tourist arrivals in early May surged by 34.2% compared to 2023. Airbnb reports also confirm rising interest from travelers across Brazil and even Europe. One fan, 30-year-old architect Wanderson Andrade, flew in from Goiana. “I’ve been waiting for this,” he said, expressing his excitement for seeing Shakira live.
