The Edwardsville City Council is set to discuss a new development called University Pointe Plaza at their meeting on May 4. This mixed-use commercial project spans 24.5 acres and is located near Illinois 157 and University Drive. It will consist of seven lots and two shared areas, with plans for 1.18 acres of green space—more than the city requires.
City services will handle water, sanitary sewer, and fire protection, while Ameren Illinois will provide electricity. This budget totals approximately $112.5 million, which includes $37 million for the general fund. Notably, there’s $12.1 million set aside for the Edwardsville Enhancement Fund and $10.3 million for capital projects.
Moreover, the council may approve funding for the Holyoake reconstruction project, which is estimated at just over $2.5 million. This project will improve Holyoake Road and Park Place, replace a water main and sewer, and update a retaining wall at Leclaire Park.
