In today’s world, appearances matter a lot. We often judge people based on their clothes, hairstyles, or the images they project. It’s easy to overlook the deeper qualities that make them who they are.
People change. They try out new looks and identities as they grow. This isn’t something to fear but to appreciate. Underneath those outer changes, there’s a core of character that stays the same. Traits like kindness, integrity, and compassion don’t fade with a new outfit or hairstyle.
Watching my youngest daughter embrace her new look reminded me of a vital truth: growth doesn’t erase your identity; it reveals it in fresh ways. It encourages us to look beyond the surface and pay attention to what truly matters. Many of us have transformed in ways others might not expect. We all hope our loved ones will see past these changes and recognize the essence of who we are.
Sure, her hairstyle may be different today. It might change again next month or next year. But the heart behind it—her kindness and goodness—remains steady. That’s what truly counts in the end.
Embracing change is essential, both in ourselves and others. It opens doors to new friendships and experiences. After all, change can be pretty exciting. Maybe I’ll even try something new, like green hair!
