Briar Hill Health Campus Hosts Annual Senior Golf Scramble
Briar Hill Health Campus is excited to bring back its fourth annual “Coffee & Tee” golf scramble for seniors. This event, honoring National Senior Health and Fitness Day, invites older adults from the community to join on Wednesday, May 27, at Birch Run Golf Course.
The scramble aims to promote healthy living among seniors. It offers a wonderful opportunity for participants to enjoy a relaxed morning filled with fun, connection, and wellness. The day will kick off at 8 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts, followed by a complimentary round of 18 holes of golf, complete with carts.
The event starts at 8:30 a.m. and is open to golfers aged 55 and older. There’s a limit of 18 teams, totaling 72 players, so early registration is essential. Teams must register individually, but individual golfers can sign up and will be placed with a team.

The Importance of Senior Fitness
Senior health is vital not just for individual well-being but for community health. Recent studies suggest that regular physical activity can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, which is critically important for the aging population. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), active seniors can lower their chances of heart disease, diabetes, and depression.
Community events like the “Coffee & Tee” scramble serve as a reminder of the joy that sports can bring. They also promote social interaction, which is just as important for mental health. A survey conducted by the National Institute on Aging highlighted that seniors who engage in group activities report higher levels of happiness and lower feelings of loneliness.
In today’s world, fostering connections and encouraging active lifestyles can contribute significantly to improving the quality of life for older adults. It’s great to see local initiatives taking steps to celebrate and support this vibrant community.
