Why Fox News Hosts Are Fuming Over Beyoncé’s Grammy Win: Exploring the Controversy

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter made a big splash at the Grammys recently, but not everyone was thrilled about it. Some critics seemed less interested in celebrating her achievements.

On the day after the ceremony, conservative host Laura Ingraham invited Raymond Arroyo to discuss Beyoncé’s wins on Fox News. Arroyo voiced his frustration over the number of Grammys Beyoncé has compared to other iconic artists like Dolly Parton and Frank Sinatra. He pointed out that Dolly has 10 Grammys, Sinatra has 11, while Beyoncé leads with an impressive 35. He questioned how this was fair or representative of talent.

Arroyo went further, suggesting that the voters for the Grammys might be out of touch. He expressed concern that everyday people, like “Lady Gaga’s cat-sitter,” might have a say in voting for genres like country and reggae. This led to his belief that the award outcomes don’t reflect the actual preferences of the audiences for those genres.

The next day, Whoopi Goldberg responded on “The View,” bringing a dose of reason and humor. She explained that only those in the music industry can vote for the Grammys, so a cat-sitter wouldn’t be eligible to vote. Goldberg also pointed out that Beyoncé earned her accolades through hard work and talent.

She added, “Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. It’s the same with the Oscars.” Her implication was clear: everyone has opinions, but the results are determined by people within the industry.

This year was particularly historic for Beyoncé. Not only did she win her first Album of the Year, but she also became the first Black woman to snag this award and the Best Country Album for “Cowboy Carter,” a feat not achieved by a Black woman since Lauryn Hill in 1999. This recognition marks an important moment in Grammy history.
