PITTSBURGH — Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced on Wednesday that the 2026 season will mark the final chapter of his impressive NFL career. “Yes. This is it,” he confirmed, putting any speculation to rest.
Rodgers, a four-time MVP, recently signed a one-year deal valued at up to $25 million with the Steelers. This move brings him back under the guidance of coach Mike McCarthy, who led him for 13 seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

Last season, Rodgers signed a one-year contract for $13.65 million. He initially thought 2025 would be his last, but after discussions with McCarthy and his wife, he decided to return for one final season, making this his 22nd in the NFL.
Reflecting on past seasons, Rodgers felt the team had made significant strides. “I think we were close last year,” he noted, mentioning new additions like wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and defensive players Jaquan Brisker and Jamel Dean. “They’ve added some good pieces to the roster,” he said.
