Samford sophomore Bradley Franklin is making waves in track and field. He just advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, thanks to his impressive performance at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Lexington, Kentucky.
Franklin had an outstanding run in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 13.25 seconds. This secured him first place in his heat and third overall. He will compete in the NCAA Championships set for June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon. This is a notable achievement, as it’s the second championship for Franklin this season. Earlier, he finished second nationally in the 60-meter hurdles during the indoor season.
Another Samford athlete, Arthur Chitty, also took part in the East Preliminaries. He competed in the men’s high jump but did not qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Next on the agenda is Jess Edwards, who will race in the women’s 800 meters on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. (CT). Fans can keep up with results through LIVE RESULTS or catch the action live on DAY 4 LIVE STREAM.
Interest in college athletics is part of a growing trend. According to a recent study by the NCAA, around 460,000 student-athletes compete in sports at colleges across the country, showcasing the immense talent in track and field and other disciplines.
