DHS has identified suspicious uses of Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards in several states, including New York and New Jersey. While officials are still investigating the extent of the issue, they are collaborating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a thorough inquiry.
Mary Franklin, who oversees County Operations at DHS, urged cardholders to be vigilant. She recommended that they frequently change their PINs and only enter information on official platforms. While there’s no evidence suggesting a larger system breach, DHS is conducting its own internal investigation to ensure security.
Eligible families can reset their PINs easily through the official website or by calling the EBT line at (800) 997-9999.
