Exciting Expansion: Intermountain Health Unveils Plans for Spanish Fork Hospital Growth

Intermountain Health just announced an exciting expansion for Spanish Fork Hospital. This upgrade aims to meet the growing healthcare demand in the area.

The expansion will take place on the hospital’s north side. The emergency department is set to grow from 12 to 20 beds. This change, coupled with the addition of two new operating rooms and a new CT scanner for the imaging department, will greatly enhance patient care.

Intermountain reported that their emergency and imaging departments are often over capacity. In November 2025, spokesman Lincoln Hubbard shared with the Springville City Council that the emergency department was functioning at 145% of its intended capacity. This expansion, though it will take over a year to complete, is crucial for keeping up with patient needs, especially as the local population continues to grow.

The hospital opened its doors just two years ago, in 2021, and has already seen a substantial increase in demand. According to the Utah Department of Health, the state is projected to experience a population jump of nearly 20% over the next decade, which means more people will need access to healthcare services.

Interestingly, community reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with many residents expressing excitement on social media platforms about the improvements. This expansion reflects a broader trend in the healthcare industry where facilities are adapting to meet increasing service demands.
