A new batch of leaks has emerged about the iPhone 17 Air and Pro Max dimensions, thanks to a trusted industry source. According to the leaked specs, the iPhone 17 Air will closely resemble the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with one major difference: its slim design. Both models will share the same length, width, screen size, and bezel thickness, just like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, meaning no upgrades in those aspects.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max will be about 8.725 mm thick, while the iPhone 17 Air will be just 5.5 mm thick. A recent leak even showed a dummy model of the iPhone 17 Air at 5.44 mm thick, so the 5.5 mm figure seems spot on. Interestingly, the iPhone 16 Pro Max measures 8.25 mm, making the new Pro Max a bit bulkier than its predecessor. Apple’s strategy likely aims to attract users wanting the thinnest device with the iPhone 17 Air, while the Pro Max focuses on high-end features without the slim build pressure.

Additionally, there’s talk that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a denser battery. If this is true, it could greatly improve the phone’s practicality, making it a more appealing choice than before.
With a denser battery, the iPhone 17 Air should provide all-day usage while still being ultra-slim, although it might compromise a bit on camera quality. If the Pro Max adopts this battery technology too, we might finally see a flagship that exceeds our current battery life expectations.
