Davante Adams, a six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, has signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams. This news comes as the Rams prepare to part ways with their star receiver, Cooper Kupp.
Adams previously played for the New York Jets. Just three weeks after the Jets let go of his longtime quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, they released Adams on March 4. His contract was set to impose a hefty $38.3 million on the Jets’ salary cap for 2025, making it the highest for wide receivers that year.
The Jets gained significant financial help by releasing Adams, clearing $29.9 million from their current cap. The team, under new coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, is looking to move on from the Rodgers era after a disappointing 5-12 season.
Adams had a rocky start with the Jets but gained momentum later in the season, ending with 67 catches, 854 yards, and 7 touchdowns over 11 games. His standout moment was a remarkable performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he caught nine passes for 198 yards.
At 32 years old, Adams has had an impressive career. He has made the Pro Bowl six times and has racked up 957 receptions, over 11,800 yards, and 103 touchdowns during his 11 years in the league.
Adams began his career with the Green Bay Packers, who drafted him in the second round in 2014. He spent eight seasons with the Packers, where he became one of the franchise’s all-time greats. He ranks second in franchise history for touchdown catches and third for receiving yards.
