Embrace a Healthy Lifestyle: Haryana CM Encourages Youth to Steer Clear of Drugs

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently emphasized the importance of health in society. He believes that a healthy community is crucial for the growth and progress of both the state and the nation. During the launch of the ‘Half Sonepat Marathon – Run Against Drugs’ at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, he encouraged young people to adopt healthy lifestyles and stay away from drugs.

Saini highlighted that the marathon aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse in Haryana. “By joining this run, we send a message to unite against drugs. It promotes sports and brings everyone together in this fight,” he said. He connected the importance of awareness through events like this one, explaining that they inspire a sense of community while promoting fitness.

On the same note, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India’ initiative, launched in August 2019, underlines the significance of health in daily life. This program encourages people to prioritize their well-being, integrating fitness into their routines.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that the state has increased sports facilities and created campaigns to combat drug addiction. "We are working tirelessly with the help of various organizations, from community groups to religious bodies, to address this issue," he noted. He mentioned that grassroots efforts are in place, from local teams working on de-addiction to initiatives reaching out to colleges.

The marathon is part of the Haryana Uday initiative, which has organized over 2,400 events, engaging over 1.6 million people across various activities aimed at promoting fitness and community awareness.

Participants of the marathon, including runners in distances of 21, 10, and 5 kilometers, were encouraged to take an oath against drug use. The event also featured cultural programs and performances centered around the theme of anti-drug advocacy, showcasing the commitment of local students and artists to the cause.

These collective efforts highlight a growing trend in Haryana towards building a healthier society, emphasizing the connection between fitness, community engagement, and the fight against drug abuse. As awareness increases and more events like this marathon take place, communities are coming together not just for fitness, but to foster a drug-free environment.
