The Breaking Bad star and his wife, Lauren Parsekian, moved to Paris with their kids, seven-year-old Story and three-year-old Ryden, after wildfires swept through Los Angeles in January. Aaron feels it’s a dream come true to raise his kids in a new culture.

In a chat with Travel and Leisure, he shared, “We always dreamt of spending a year abroad, particularly in Paris. We love the food, the history, and the people.” He added that every visit to Paris made him want to stay longer.

The couple wanted their children to learn another language and immerse themselves in a different culture, which was essential for them.

The family has already taken several trips around Europe, including a visit to London, and plans to travel during school holidays. In France, children get two weeks off every six weeks, which opens up opportunities for adventure.

Aaron shared, “We’re just living the European lifestyle, and it’s a dream.” Their next adventure? A Christmas trip to Finland, where they’ll stay in glass igloos and search for Santa with reindeer sleds.

Although they love Paris, they might not stay forever. Aaron revealed they might follow his in-laws, who are buying a house in Italy. “Tuscany is obviously a go-to. Florence is beautiful and may be my favorite,” he said, also praising Rome.

This shift from Los Angeles became clear after the wildfires. Aaron noted, “When the fires happened, we knew we were done with LA. So we sold our house there and moved to Paris.”

The pandemic has also shifted how families think about living abroad. A recent survey found that nearly 40% of Americans now consider moving to different countries after the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking better quality of life. For families like Aaron’s, these experiences offer more than travel—they foster adaptability and global understanding for their children.

As societal norms shift, many are beginning to realize the importance of diverse experiences. Sharing a lifestyle filled with language, history, and culture could shape the next generation. Being raised in a different country not only boosts children’s language skills but also enhances their social awareness. This is a lesson every modern parent might find worth considering—just like Aaron and Lauren.

Aaron Paul’s journey is more than just a relocation; it’s about embracing new beginnings and fostering growth in an ever-changing world.
