Rodgers mentioned, “I’ve talked to coach Mike McCarthy and Omar Khan, but there’s no deadline or contract in front of me. I’m a free agent and enjoying my offseason with my wife.” He acknowledged that while he is open to future discussions, nothing has moved forward yet.
Interestingly, last year he didn’t commit to the Steelers until late March, which led to his decision to join them for the 2025 season. It appears that avoiding distractions from team activities was a strategic choice for him.
The Steelers initially aimed to re-sign quarterback Justin Fields or acquire Russell Wilson but pivoted to Rodgers when they realized Fields was off the table. This year, they have Mason Rudolph and Will Howard lined up, but they are still keen to keep an option open for Rodgers.
