Looking ahead, Tobin sees potential in the defense, calling it “emerging.” But he knows upgrades are needed. Strengthening the offensive line is essential to protect Burrow; their line was ranked 28th by Pro Football Focus last season. With a cap space of $57.5 million available and eight draft picks for 2026, including the 10th overall pick, the Bengals have a chance to turn things around.
Experts point out that successful teams often bounce back after a disappointing season. According to recent data from NFL teams that ranked poorly one year, about 30% improve significantly the following season. With strategic moves, including bolstering both the defense and offensive line, the Bengals could re-enter playoff discussions. But it will take smart decisions and hard work.
“All I can do is work us out of it,” Tobin said. The real question now is whether the Bengals can rise to the occasion and reclaim their competitive edge.
