AMC’s Legal Visionary: Veteran Chief Behind Major Acquisitions and Upcoming IPO to Depart in 2025

AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC) has announced that Kevin Connor, who has been with the company for 23 years, will retire on March 13, 2025. He has served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. Edwin (Eddie) Gladbach, currently the Vice President of Legal, will take over as Interim General Counsel and Secretary.

Kevin Connor joined AMC in 2002. Throughout his time at the company, he played a key role in many significant events. He oversaw the 2006 merger with Loews Cineplex Entertainment, AMC’s initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in 2013, and the acquisitions of several cinema chains like ODEON/UCI and Carmike Cinemas in 2016 and 2017. Most recently, he helped AMC navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic.

The company plans to look at both internal and external candidates for the permanent General Counsel position later this year. Eddie Gladbach, who has been with AMC since 2009, is one of the candidates under consideration.

Adam Aron, AMC’s CEO, expressed gratitude for Connor’s contributions. He emphasized the impact Connor had on the company’s legal framework and commended his efforts to train potential successors. Aron also noted that the company feels confident in Gladbach’s ability to lead the legal department during this transition.
