MADISON, Wis. – Dane County is now accepting applications for its grant program aimed at enhancing food equity. The Partner in Equity Food Project Grants support initiatives that improve access to food for everyone in the community.
This year, there is a total of $40,000 in grants available. Dane County Executive Melissa Agard urges individuals and smaller organizations to apply for funding.
Agard highlights that these grants are part of ongoing efforts to foster equality and increase opportunities within the community. “Through this program, we work with local organizations to make healthy food more accessible, support regional farms, reduce food waste, and tackle food insecurity,” she stated.
Proposals for the grants should aim to:
- Enhance access to healthy, local, and culturally relevant food.
- Support regional agriculture by providing easier access to land for food production.
- Reduce food waste by redistributing usable food that might otherwise go to waste.
- Empower the community to have a say in local food initiatives.
