Arthood Entertainment Enters Rotterdam Big Screen Competition with Exclusive Title ‘Soft Leaves’

Soft Leaves

ArtHood Entertainment, based in Berlin, has secured the international sales rights for Soft Leaves. This is the first feature film from Miwako Van Weyenberg, a Belgian-Japanese director. The film will make its debut at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, where it will compete in the Big Screen category.

Soft Leaves tells the story of an 11-year-old girl whose life changes dramatically when her father is hospitalized. This event leads her to reconnect with her Japanese mother and half-sister, exploring themes of family and identity.

Antonino Lombardo produces this heartfelt drama through Belgium’s Prime Time Production and Stenola Productions. The film is set for release in Belgium this March.

Manola Novelli, who handles sales and acquisitions for ArtHood, praised Van Weyenberg as a talented new filmmaker. She expressed excitement about the film and the young actress Lill Berteloot’s performance, calling it both heartwarming and tender.

Alongside Soft Leaves, ArtHood’s lineup features several compelling titles, including Ceylan Özgün Özçelik’s psychological thriller In Ten Seconds and Nader Saeivar Hijamat’s latest project, following his previous film The Witness, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival last year.
