Artist Tetsuya Nomura is stirring up excitement in the gaming community. He recently shared some intriguing insights about his work for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy collaboration. Nomura mentioned that he designed two cards, Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER, and Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel, so they can combine into one complete image when stacked. This added detail invites fans to look closely and appreciate the original artwork.

His comments came right after Wizards of the Coast showcased the collaboration at PAX East on May 10. Nomura also hinted at a significant change in the design of Safer Sephiroth, without revealing too much. Fans are eager to see how his artistic vision unfolds in the final product.

Many speculate that the artwork represents Sephiroth’s growth throughout the game, although the changes to Safer Sephiroth remain a mystery. The collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Final Fantasy was announced back in October 2022. Fast forward to now, and anticipation is building for the set, set to release on June 13, 2025.

Interestingly, a survey conducted by Polygraph in early 2023 showed that 72% of gamers express excitement about collaborations in the gaming world. With projects like this, the fusion of iconic franchises is not just a dream but a growing reality.
