Bharat Forge has teamed up with French company Turgis Gaillard to introduce AAROK, a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for India’s armed forces. This MALE (Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance) UAV is designed for advanced surveillance and offers capabilities that enhance military operations.
AAROK can fly at high altitudes for long stretches, making it ideal for extended surveillance missions. Equipped with advanced electromagnetic sensors and radar, it can monitor enemy activities while staying safely out of reach of threats. According to industry experts, such technology allows military units to gather essential intelligence without exposing personnel to danger.
Bharat Forge aims to set up a production line for AAROK in India. This move will not only meet the Indian armed forces’ growing demands but also provide local production, ensuring full control over maintenance and repairs. Localizing production is a significant step, as it reinforces India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense.
With a payload capacity exceeding 1.5 tonnes, AAROK can connect seamlessly with command and control systems, relaying real-time data to military personnel. This capability enhances situational awareness, vital for making quick and informed decisions in modern combat.
In recent times, nations across the globe are increasingly investing in drone technology. According to a report by Grand View Research, the global military drone market size is expected to reach $32.4 billion by 2025, showcasing the growing importance of UAVs in defense strategies.
