New Delhi, July 21: Today marked the start of Bharat NCX 2025, a major national cybersecurity exercise. T.V. Ravichandran, Deputy National Security Advisor, inaugurated the event alongside Prof. Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University. This two-week exercise, organized by the National Security Council Secretariat in partnership with RRU, aims to strengthen India’s cybersecurity readiness under the theme “Enhancing the Operational Preparedness of Indian Cyberspace.”
Experts from cybersecurity, government, and industry have gathered to tackle real-world challenges, including threats from deepfakes, malware responses, and API security breaches. This collaboration highlights the importance of working together to protect critical infrastructure.
The exercise features live-fire simulations that include both IT and Operational Technology systems. There’s also a Strategic Decision-Making Exercise (STRATEX) tailored for senior leaders, focusing on strategic responses in a cyber crisis. Additionally, a CISO Conclave will discuss emerging AI trends and cybersecurity policies. An exhibition will showcase innovative cybersecurity solutions from Indian startups, demonstrating their role in building a secure digital future.
Research shows that nearly 80% of organizations in India have faced a cyber incident in the past year, making exercises like Bharat NCX essential for improving preparedness. According to recent statistics, cyberattacks on critical infrastructure have increased by over 40% in the last two years. This growing trend underscores India’s commitment to a proactive and innovative approach to cybersecurity.
Bharat NCX 2025 runs from July 21 to August 1, culminating in a debriefing to evaluate key insights and shape future strategies. As India navigates the complex terrain of cybersecurity, this exercise emphasizes the need for collaboration and advanced technology in defending against cyber threats.
With the rapid evolution of technology and cyber threats, it’s evident that exercises like Bharat NCX 2025 are not just beneficial but necessary. They prepare India to face digital challenges head-on while fostering an environment of learning and innovation.
