Boston University Men’s Ice Hockey Team’s Season Outlook
The Boston University men’s ice hockey team is gearing up for an exciting season. Recently, the league’s coaches selected BU to win the Hockey East regular-season title, a prediction backed by seven out of ten first-place votes. They racked up a total of 105 points, easily outpacing second-place Providence, which garnered 91 points. UConn is in third with 90 points, while Maine, which received one first-place vote, stands fourth with 87 points.
BU has a solid roster this year. They welcome back 12 players from last year’s team, which made it to the national title game. Among these returning players are standout talents like Cole Hutson, a First Team All-American. Hutson is joined by promising prospects Sascha Boumedienne and Cole Eiserman, both top 2024 NHL draft picks. Eiserman shone last season, leading all NCAA rookies with 25 goals.
This year also brings new faces to the team. Notably, they’ve added Sacha Boisvert, the reigning NCHC Rookie of the Year, who transferred from North Dakota along with Owen McLaughlin. Additionally, twelve freshmen will join the ranks, five of whom were selected in this summer’s NHL Draft.
In a recent survey among fans, many expressed excitement over the team’s potential. Social media buzz reflects a strong community spirit, with fans sharing hopes for a championship run.
The season kicks off on October 4, when BU faces off against LIU at Agganis Arena. This game is highly anticipated, and fans are eager to see what this talented lineup can achieve.
