The latest bracket is out, and there’s some movement at the top. Houston has secured the fourth No. 1 seed after Florida’s recent loss at Georgia. Now, Florida slips to a No. 2 seed, falling to sixth overall behind Tennessee.
The competition for top seeds remains fierce, especially with three SEC teams in the mix. Winning the conference tournament could solidify a No. 1 seed for one of them.
Michigan State is still in contention. They have home games against Wisconsin and Michigan before the Big Ten Tournament. A strong finish could boost their chances, especially if Indiana steps up. Their only Quad 2 loss came against the Hoosiers.
At the bottom of the bracket, Baylor and Wake Forest have been bumped out and replaced by Georgia and Boise State. Baylor has struggled recently, dropping four of their last five games and now holds a 15-12 record. Poor performance against higher-ranked teams doesn’t bode well for them.
Wake Forest seemed poised for success with a favorable schedule but faltered in their last three games after winning a crucial road match against SMU. Their recent losses have significantly affected their ranking, putting them at 71st in the NET.
Georgia just secured a vital win against Florida, and Boise State is riding high after winning seven of their last eight games, including a victory over Mountain West leader New Mexico. Both teams are now part of the bracket dynamics.
Texas and Arkansas are also in the mix, frequently trading places around the cutline. Arkansas has improved its position, while Texas has faced challenges, recently landing in the “first four out.”
Lastly, BYU’s placement has required some adjustments, but they’re still in the same pod as Houston, which doesn’t violate any bracketing rules.
