Breaking News: Gayle King to Depart CBS Mornings – What This Means for Viewers

Gayle King is moving on from “CBS Mornings” after more than ten years, as reported by Variety. She might transition to another role at CBS when her contract expires next year.

CBS News has not confirmed these reports but stated, “There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026. She’s a truly valued part of CBS, and we look forward to engaging with her about the future.”

King began her journey with CBS News in 2011 when she co-hosted “CBS This Morning.” The show’s rebranding to “CBS Mornings” happened in 2021. Alongside King are co-hosts Nate Burleson and Tony Dokoupil.

This change comes amid a significant shakeup at CBS News. Bari Weiss recently took over as editor-in-chief after CBS’s parent company merged with Skydance Media. Notably, John Dickerson, co-anchor of “CBS Evening News,” also announced his departure after 16 years with the network.

In the past year, viewership for morning news has shifted, with many outlets seeing a decline. According to a recent survey by Nielsen, viewership for morning shows dropped by about 8% compared to the previous year. This landscape is rapidly evolving, making King’s upcoming departure even more significant.

Fans have had mixed reactions on social media. While many express sadness about her exit, others are curious about the changes ahead. The discussions in online forums highlight how closely viewers feel connected to their favorite morning personalities.
