British Man Faces Charges for Coordinating Controversial ‘Mock Wedding’ for Nine-Year-Old at Disneyland Paris

A British man has been arrested for orchestrating a mock wedding involving a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl at Disneyland Paris. French authorities say the 39-year-old has a history of sexual offenses and is currently wanted in the UK. His identity remains confidential.

The incident unfolded early one Saturday morning when a participant in the event alerted the police. He claimed he was hired to play the girl’s father and was shocked to discover she was a child. He received €12,000 for the role, according to prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier.

Fortunately, the girl, who had just arrived from Ukraine, had not suffered any physical harm. She was not forced into participating. One woman, who was cast as a guest, expressed her horror upon seeing the girl in a wedding dress, stating, “It was horrific.”

Around 100 extras were recruited for the staged event, which was filmed privately. The organizer rented Disneyland Paris for the occasion and planned to portray the groom. Reports indicate that he altered his appearance dramatically using professional makeup.

Three others were also arrested, including the girl’s mother and two Latvian accomplices. By Tuesday, only the British man remained in custody. He faced charges including fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. The Latvian woman is now considered a witness.

A significant detail emerged: the British man allegedly deceived Disneyland Paris by using a fake Latvian ID to secure the venue. Renting the park is possible outside regular hours, but this incident raises concerns about security checks.

The entire operation reportedly cost upwards of €130,000 (over £110,000). Amid this shocking narrative, experts highlight the potential risks associated with child exploitation, especially in complex situations involving displaced populations like Ukrainian refugees.
