California State University, Fullerton Titans Struggle on Road Against San Jose State: A Recap of the Game

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton Titans women’s tennis team faced a tough challenge against San Jose State, ending their northern trip with a 4-1 loss.

The match, initially set for 11:00 AM, was delayed to 2:30 PM due to bad weather. The Titans fell behind early, losing the doubles point. Only the top pairing of Sein Myoung and Milena Gevorgyan managed a victory, winning their match 6-3.

In singles, the Titans struggled, earning just one point. Sein Myoung faced tough competition, losing to the ranked #97 Cheuk Ying Shek 6-2, 6-0, placing the Titans down 2-0. However, Milena Gevorgyan bounced back in the No. 5 singles spot, winning 6-1, 7-5, keeping Fullerton in the match at 2-1.

The momentum shifted again as Diana Yanotovskaya lost 6-1, 6-4 to Carla Urchoeguia, pushing the Spartans ahead 3-1. Kaytlin Taylor then lost 6-2, 6-2 to Soledad Fayos, giving San Jose State the overall victory. Meanwhile, Seha Yu was ahead in her match before it was called off, and Mariia Nikitash was in a tiebreak in her first set when her match ended.

Next, the Titans will return home for two matches this weekend. They will host Youngstown State on Friday at 1:30 PM and Colorado State on Sunday at 11:00 AM.
