Bellevue Hospital recently celebrated Healthcare Workers’ Appreciation Month with a Staff Awards Ceremony at OO Park. This annual event highlights the dedication of staff members in Jamaica’s mental health care sector.
Carita Williams-Lindsay, a senior human resource officer, received the coveted Employee of the Year award. She was chosen from over 25 nominees for her exceptional leadership and mentorship. “This award is a dream come true,” Williams-Lindsay remarked. She believes it showcases that hard work and a commitment to service truly matter. “Even those working behind the scenes are part of the patient care journey,” she noted.
Crystal Davis, a registered nurse, and Sandra Buckley, an assistant dietitian, were honored as first and second runners-up, reflecting their compassion and years of dedication to patient care.
This year marked the introduction of the People’s Choice award, allowing staff to vote for a colleague who embodies Bellevue’s spirit. Sheryl Dunbar-Simmonds, a patient care assistant known for her kindness, won this award, leaving a lasting impression on both patients and her peers.
